In southwest China, images of a rare white panda in a nature reserve in Sichuan Province were captured by an infrared camera at 2,000 meters above sea level in the Wolong National Nature Reserve. The panda was crossing the forest when it was spotted by cameras. Its body appeared pure white without spots, while its eyes appeared red. Li Sheng, a researcher at Peking University's College of Life Sciences, said the panda is about one to two years old. The presence of some rare brown giant pandas has been detected in China's Qinling Mountains, and the brown fur color has also been considered a genetic mutation by some researchers. In order to better protect ecosystems, Wolong Nature Reserve uses infrared cameras to monitor the distribution and activities of wild animals.
