In an interesting turn of events, Texas Senator Ted Cruz took to Twitter ($TWTR@US) to air his grievances with the Senator from Massachusetts, Elizabeth Warren. Specifically, Cruz says that Warren must be an authoritarian because she “hates” Bitcoin. The tweet read, “Why does Elizabeth Warren hate Bitcoin? For the same reason that Xi and China hate Bitcoin: Neither of them can control it.” Previously, Warren has been vocal about the energy drain crypto mining causes. Additionally, Warren has co-sponsored legislation with Steve Daines of Montana that would bar members of Congress from trading stock, meaning that the legislation could also prevent members of Congress from dealing in cryptocurrency. Moreover, Warren has accused Elon Musk of “freeloading” and not paying full taxes. Meanwhile, Cruz’s home state of Texas has turned into a Bitcoin mining hub, at the same time the Texas power grid is on the brink of collapse as temperatures dropped during a recent snow and ice storm. Cruz has also opposed new tax rules for cryptocurrencies. At press time, Bitcoin was trading at more than $44,000, up nearly 4% on increasing volume and an uptick in its market cap.
