For another three months, the Earth will have an asteroid that astronomers discovered in orbit in the middle of this month, and it is believed to be the size of a car, and it was pulled by the Earth’s gravity. Casper Verscus and Teddy Bruin saw this small moon, called 2020 CD3, via the Catalina sky survey, which is dedicated to discovering near-Earth objects and is funded by NASA. Casper wrote on his account on the social networking site Twitter, saying that the Earth has a new asteroid that may be a C type (charcoal and therefore very dark). Casper said that the planet's movement shows that it entered Earth's orbit about three years ago, as a result of the pull of the gravity of the Earth, the Moon, and the Sun. The new asteroid that was discovered this month is the second of its kind to orbit the Earth, after an asteroid discovered in 2006, called “RH 120.” It was also discovered by the “Catalina” sky scanner. The asteroid continued to orbit the Earth from September 2006 until June 2007. Astronomer Gregory Fedorets, a researcher at Queen's University in Belfast, expects the asteroid 2020 CD3 to leave Earth's orbit during the month of April, telling New Scientist magazine that it has begun to move away from the Earth-Moon system.
