Las Vegas Mayor, Carolyn Goodman, has called for the reopening of businesses, including casinos. The mayor previously called the lockdown of non-essential businesses in Nevada “total insanity”. She suggests that business should be able to reopen, and those that see outbreaks can be closed again in the future. MSNBC’s Katy Tur called the suggestion “modern-day survival of the fittest”. "Do we keep absolutely everyone out of work and destroy the lives of people and our children and the next generation because we have a fight on our hands with the virus?" Carolyn Goodman, Las Vegas Mayor. Goodman’s statements come after protestors gathered in the state capitol to protest lockdown restrictions. The mayor stressed that hospitality workers are struggling to feed their families. Meanwhile, Dr. Anthony Fauci highlighted the dangers of reopening state economies too soon.
