Watch: Tennis training sessions on rooftops in Italy

Like other athletes everywhere, tennis players in Italy found innovative ways to train after the closure of courts and the halt of exercise, as players trained on the roofs of buildings. This comes after the tennis club in Finale Ligure, a small town in northern Italy, closed its doors at the beginning of March, as part of the Italian government's battle against the coronavirus pandemic. The media circulated exciting pictures of promising tennis stars throwing one ball after another with a racket. Others preferred to perform a different kind of display by hitting balls on the walls in the street, in parking lots, or even in the bedroom or on the stairs. Vittoria, who is 14 years old, and Carola, who is 11 years old, gave a wonderful performance as they faced each other in two opposite buildings and played a match not unlike those organized on international tennis courts. Their coach, Dionisio Poggi, said: “It was their idea. They know each other well, they are friends and neighbours.”
