Holy Kaaba gets new cloth in Mecca, Saudi Arabia

This footage was filmed and produced 21 July 2021. Every Year the black cloth is changed by authorities of Holy Ka'ba in Meccah. Kiswah is a black brocade cloth that covers the most sacred shrine of Islām, the Kaʿbah (q.v.) in Mecca. A new kiswah is made in Egypt every year and carried to Mecca by pilgrims. It is embroidered in gold the Muslim profession of faith (shahādah) and a gold band of ornamental calligraphy carrying Qurʾānic verses. The kiswa change occurs annually on the 9th of Dul Hijja, which marks the day when Muslims head to Mount Arafat to witness the most important ritual during hajj, as the Kaaba gets its old cover replaced with a new one. 670 kg pure silk, 120 kg of gold and 100 kg of silver have been used to prepare the new Ghilaf. The covering cloth of the Kaaba, known as Kiswa, is changed on 9th Zilhaj every year on the day of Arafat
