Bitcoin that was donated to Canadian truckers during their blockade of a key bridge into the U.S. is still on the move despite the Canadian government’s best efforts to freeze out the coin and prevent those funds from reaching their final destination. Justin Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act earlier this month, giving the government authority to freeze or suspend bank accounts linked to the protestors and potentially seize those funds. Only a small fraction of the more than 20 Bitcoin that was donated to the truckers is still at the address where it was sent, meaning those donations slipped through the cracks. Globally, the movement of cryptocurrency in spite of the government’s best efforts to stop it casts doubt on how effective these measures can be as they relate to decentralized exchanges. At press time, Bitcoin was trading at just over $39,000, up nearly 4% on decreased volume and a rise in its market cap.
